Privacy Policy
Last updated November 7, 2026.
This policy explains how CarDiscern, operated by Ian Balekdjian ("we"), handles information when you visit cardiscern.com.
What we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not run contact forms. The calculator runs in your browser, and your inputs are not stored or sent to us. If you email us, we receive your address and message and use them only to reply. Mail sent to our address is forwarded through Cloudflare to a Google Gmail inbox, so those companies also process it. We keep messages only as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal obligations. Our hosting and network provider, Cloudflare, may process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the site. We do not use analytics tools.
Cookies and advertising
We do not set our own cookies. When advertising is enabled on the site, third parties, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Read how Google uses data from partner sites.
Your advertising choices
- Turn off personalized advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings.
- Opt out of personalized advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Affiliate links
Some links are affiliate links. If you follow one, the partner or its tracking provider may use cookies or similar technology to record the referral so that a commission can be attributed. Information you give a partner site is governed by that partner's privacy policy, so read it before sharing personal details.
International transfers
Our providers and advertising partners operate worldwide, including in the United States, and we may read your emails outside your country. Your information may therefore be processed in countries with different data protection laws. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards offered by those providers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age for online consent in your country, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion or correction, to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell information you send us directly. However, advertising cookies may count as "sale" or "sharing" under California law. You can limit this with the advertising choices above. Residents of other US states may have similar rights. To make a request, email us. We will respond within the time the law requires and will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
EEA, UK and Swiss privacy rights
The data controller is Ian Balekdjian, reachable at [email protected]. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to the processing of or receive a copy of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Where required, advertising cookies are used only with your consent, which is requested through a consent message. We rely on consent for advertising cookies and on legitimate interests for basic site security and for replying to your emails. Advertising partners set their own retention periods for their cookies. To make a request, email us. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
